Cochise Stronghold B&B Cochise Stronghold B&B
Owned and operated by John and Nancy Yates. "It is our great pleasure and honor to host and serve folds here in this most powerful and beautiful canyon. Over time many people have held and still hold the "Stronghold" as sacred ground. Thus, it is indeed important for us to be conscientious stewards while we provide a space where others can also partake of the powerful offerings of this canyon."

We have made many new friends here and thank you all, our guests, friends, family and all other beings for trusting us and adding your energy to our dream of creating a peaceful, wildly beautiful sanctuary.

Yes, we live in a yurt and we think it is probably the most comfortable and high tech yurt on the planet. We enjoy learning about nature, history and our inner nature. We are always happy to share our interests with you. We love serenity, meditation, fun, music, harmony, spiritual practice and so much more…

Nancy Yates Nancy hails from southern Alberta and the west coast of British Columbia in Canada. “My degrees in nutrition and psychology, and work in environmental administration have certainly been put to the test here. From my earliest childhood I have been deeply committed to nature,
wilderness appreciation and sustainable lifestyles.” Nancy is also a licensed realtor specializing in the Cochise Stronghold area

John Yates John is a native Arizonan, with delightful memories of early childhood in Bisbee and excursions and camping trips to the Stronghold with his family. “I have a PhD in physiology, taught anatomy, physiology and neuroscience for many years. My book, ‘A Physician’s Guide to
Therapeutic Massage’ is now in its 3rd edition, and I have been fortunate to contribute to this noble healing profession. I do the handyman jobs around here, but my pride and joy is working with wood, especially old mesquite wood. ”

Sean Yates Our dear son, Sean, recently graduated from high school. He is a great hiking guide and is especially skilled and comfortable in wilderness settings because he roamed these mountains for most of his childhood, learning the ways of nature and seeking out those special places. He
once walked over 6 miles of rocky terrain from the West side of the Dragoon Mountains to the East side barefoot. A Chiricahua Apache friend, Mannie Medina, gave him the name “He who kisses the Earth with his feet.” Sean discovered a previously unknown Native American pictograph site which is now catalogued by archeologists as “Sean’s Shelter”.
