I'm
hoping the peace & tranquility I've absorbed will last
until we meet again. Your love & respect of Mother Earth
are truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing your home.

This is one of the rare times
in my life that I have been grateful for the internet.
How I wish we had more time to enjoy your marvelous place.
Congratulations on creating something that not only fits
into (but does not smother) its location but is in itself,
so beautiful. Good luck.
– Ruth-Ellen. Minneapolis, MN
A special place where one communes
with the beauty of what once was; a different place in
time that has been protected and revered… touched
by magic and mystery.

WOW!!! I am soooo pleased with this
B&B that I cannot find words to describe how amazed
I am! All of these words don’t come close put together.
Wonderful, awesome, amazing, stupendous, beautiful, fun,
outstanding, comfortable, heaven, peaceful, indescribable,
one-of-a-kind, fantastic, exceeds expectations, my official
favorite get away! Perfect. I travel a lot, so I stay
at a lot of different places! Countless amounts of places!
Your place is and always will be my top favorite! I have
never been soo pleased with anything! I will definitely
come back Even if it’s the last thing I do….banked
in memory forever…
– Pearl & Kyizom, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
On top of all that, your friendly laid
back service, magnificent food and attention to detail
deserve an award. I’m so glad I stumbled across
your excellent website – but maybe you should close
it down now in case too many people find out about this
treasure and book up the days when we want to return!
Which we certainly shall. And we still have a night in
the tipi to come! Many, many thanks.

A retreat is...
- a period of seclusion, retirement, and solitude, sometimes held in silence
- taken for reasons that may be related to spirituality, contemplation, health and lifestyle, stress, or personal growth and renewal
- devoted to meditation, reflection, study, prayer, exercise, or problem-solving and creative thinking.
Cochise Stronghold Canyon Nature Retreat is the perfect location for a retreat, whether private or as a group. An ideal place to enjoy serenity and simplicity, to breathe in health - equally well suited to the heightening of one's senses as to the withdrawal from the senses in search of profound inner experience. A haven to relax, to heal, to gain insights, and grow. An ideal place to recuperate from the hectic pace of modern life.
Nestled in the tranquil Dragoon mountains, your secluded 15-acre retreat is surrounded by 10,000 acres of the untouched beauty of Coronado National Forest. Overlooked by picturesque Rockfellow Dome, you are treated daily to blue skies and spectacular star-filled evenings.
Imagine a day where you make your own schedule, decide when to rest and when to play, and know absolutely nothing must get done.
- Meditate, contemplate, and savor the sacred space.
- Walk in peaceful surroundings in the company of deer and the music of songbirds.
- Read from an extensive book collection on spirituality, nature, and holistic living.
- Enjoy countless opportunities for nature hikes.

Your host, John, is an experienced meditation teacher who has been practicing meditation for almost 35 years. He teaches weekly meditation classes at Tucson Community Meditation Center and at his home in Cochise Stronghold Canyon.
His principle teachers have been Upasaka Kema Ananda and the Venerable Jotidhamma Bhikku, who were themselves trained in both the Theravadin and Tibetan Karma Kagyu Buddhist traditions as a part of the lineage of Karma Tenzin Dorje Namgyal Rinpoche (also known as the Venerable Ananda Bodhi). John has also practiced under the guidance of Jack Kornfield, Shinzen Young, Sayadaw U Vivekanda, Allan Wallace and others. |

Meditation is a science that transforms into mystical experience. The perspective of meditation as a science is one that emerges when one explores the many various techniques of different traditions. John has devoted himself to the practice and science of meditation for many years.
He is usually available and very happy to provide meditation instruction, advice or assistance at any time, but only upon request. Our purpose is to support, not to intrude.
