“What
a joy to wake in a tipi, fulfilling a life-long dream.
Add the solitary hot tub under a thousand stars and milky
way, warm hospitality and a sun filled day of hiking ahead.
This, I’d say, is Nirvana!”
– Marilyn, Anchorage, Alaska
“It was so much fun to stay in a teepee with spirits
of the Apaches in the Stronghold. The night time Jacuzzi
under the stars was a thrill for all of us. The boys slept
peacefully and warm. We have visited the stronghold multiple
times, it was nice not to have to leave at the end of
the day but have 2 days to spend. Thank you for care and
attention & beautiful surroundings & yummy breakfast!”
– Cole, Heather, Nico
& Nathan, Elhton, MD
“We feel privileged to share your little piece of
‘heaven-on-earth’, the quiet, space, scenery,
hot tub and tipi are memorable as are the night skies,
the breakfasts and the hummingbirds…”
– Mike & Diana,
Oxford, England
“Yesterday we got pretty close to a deer –
he didn’t run away, we all looked at each other
for about 5 minutes; he stamped his foot twice and we
left! We saw a UFO last night, out by the tipi, looked
like a star, wasn’t a plane, moved faster than a
plane and bobbed a little- didn’t disappear for
about 5 minutes… Wow, these 5 minute encounters
out here! It’s been magical.”
– Terry & Jeff, Colorado

The tipi provides an opportunity to be present in “nature
at its finest” and to fully partake in the magic
of the Dragoon Mountains at Cochise Stronghold. A few
minutes walk from the main guest house, in a secluded
grove of manzanita, juniper and oak trees, the tipi
offers comfort and luxury for a “wilderness experience
par excellence”.

The tipi is popular because it is so uniquely western
while comfortable.
The tipi is a traditional structure, 20 feet in
diameter, made of the finest quality canvas and
supported by lodgepole pine. It comfortably sleeps
four people with a full size double bed (4”
quality foam mattress) and two deluxe single beds.
In the center of the tipi is a Franklin wood stove.
Many a night in every season has been enjoyed in
total comfort with a toasty fire. |
Children adore the tipi, but young children can stay
only if attended by a responsible adult at all times.
Children must be over the age of 8 to stay.
Flashlights, sleeping bags if you have them, coolers,
water bottles, camping gear, field guides...
Just outside the tipi is a beautiful firepit for your
enjoyment and campfire cooking. A Coleman stove, a full
set of camping cookware and large cooler chests, are
available upon request. However, as we are a wilderness
location food is not allowed inside the tipi. We wish
to avoid any potential problems with insects, skunks,
ringtail cats and mice. An outdoor cook station can
easily be set up.
We have just installed a brand new deluxe bathroom (shower, vanity and flush toilet) in our laundry shed.
This is just a one minute walk from the tipi. There is also a solar shower next to the hot tub and a water hose just outside the tipi door.
The hot tub is available to tipi guests, when not in
use by other B&B guests. Showers are required of everyone prior to use.
We think the tipi is the “best deal going”
at $99.00 per night (double occupancy) for a minimum
2 night stay. This includes a full gourmet, hot breakfast,
linens, warm blankets, quilts and lots of wood for the
stove. For additional persons please add $25.00 per
person/night.
For parties larger than four we can supply insulated
camping mattresses (thermo-rests) to put on the floor
to increase the available sleeping space. It is a great
help to us if you bring your own sleeping bags, though
not essential.
